On September 25, 2023, 24-year-old Jamiya Anthroneisha Strong was fatally shot at the Garden Park Apartments in East Arlington, Texas. Officers responding to a shooting call around 5 p.m. found Strong lying near a dark-colored pickup truck, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Medical City Arlington, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
