In May of 2015, 74-year-old Klaus-Peter Schreiber was preparing for a solo trip to Ireland from his home in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was last seen on the morning of his scheduled departure. Mr. Schreiber, also known as Peter, was dressed in a button-down shirt, blue jeans, and brown penny loafers, and may have been wearing his gold wedding band. He has pockmarks on his forehead, a scar on the left side of his cheekbone, and wears eyeglasses. He left to go to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport but never boarded his flight to Ireland, nor did he board any other flight. His loved ones never heard from him again. The investigation into Klaus-Peter Schreiber's disappearance began when it was clear he did not make it to his destination. Authorities with the New Orleans Police Department searched for him on other airlines, but there was no record of anyone matching his name or description on any flight. A significant break in the case came approximately four months after he vanished when his black 2009 Mercedes was discovered in a long-term parking lot across from the airport. This discovery confirmed that he had made it to the airport's vicinity, but it did not explain what happened to him afterward. The case took another turn about eight months after his car was found. A homeless man found Mr. Schreiber's briefcase, which contained cash and checks, at an unknown location and turned it over to a volunteer at a homeless shelter, who then gave it to the police. Despite the discovery of his vehicle and briefcase, the whereabouts of Klaus-Peter Schreiber remain unknown, and his case is still unsolved. The New Orleans Police Department continues to investigate his disappearance, which is classified as an endangered missing person case. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing are perplexing, leaving his family and investigators with many unanswered questions. The discovery of his car at an airport parking lot suggests he intended to travel, but why he never boarded the plane remains a central mystery. The subsequent finding of his briefcase, containing valuables, adds another layer of complexity to the case, leaving a trail of clues that unfortunately have not yet led to his whereabouts.
