On a Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2016, 27-year-old Allen M. Peters was at the Foodland grocery store in Fairmont City, Illinois, when his life took an unexplained turn. Around 3:00 p.m., Peters was reportedly involved in a disturbance at the store, which led to the police being called. Before officers could intervene, Peters was seen running from the business and heading toward a nearby wooded and swampy area.
