On August 23rd, he was a passenger in a vehicle that became the subject of a police pursuit. The chase ended abruptly when the vehicle stopped, and Loines fled into a field off of Highway 79N, just northeast of Paris, Tennessee. He was last seen disappearing into the dense woods bordering the field.
In the immediate aftermath of his disappearance, an extensive search was launched, involving K9 units and aerial support, but no trace of him was found.
