Male Martavius Isaiah Williams was a Black teenager from Alabama whose name entered public missing-person records after he was last seen on August 11, 2020, in the Westover area of Shelby County. Early public reporting from WBMA said the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was asking for help locating 15-year-old Martavius Williams, describing him as a Black male, about 6 feet tall and around 180 pounds, and stating that he had been reported missing on August 11 after last being seen in Westover.

The first public appeal was direct and urgent. Shelby County authorities asked the community to help find Martavius and provided contact information for the sheriff’s office, including Investigator Ken Prady and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office main number. In the sparse public details available from the time he disappeared, there was no lengthy explanation of where he had gone, who he may have been with, or what circumstances led to the report. What remained publicly clear was that a teenager had vanished from the Westover area, and law enforcement believed public attention might help bring information forward.
For years, the publicly available missing-person information about Martavius appears to have remained limited. The case is no longer an active missing-person case. Public records and later law-enforcement reporting identify Martavius Williams as deceased. Birmingham Police reported that on June 15, 2024, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert around the 8200 block of 1st Avenue North in Birmingham, near East Lake Park, and identified the victim as Martavius Williams, 19, a Black male from Birmingham. Officers described a chaotic scene involving multiple vehicles, including wrecked vehicles near East Lake Park’s entrance and a third vehicle that had gone through the park fence. Police said Martavius was found unresponsive inside that vehicle after being shot, and Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him deceased. Two other people, an adult woman and an adult man, were also found suffering from gunshot wounds and were transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
As the Birmingham investigation developed, police later announced that detectives had obtained arrest warrants for three suspects in connection with Martavius’s murder. In a December 20, 2024 release, Birmingham Police said Cameron Scales, Rico Pickett, and Keion McClure were wanted or arrested in connection with the case, and that warrants had been issued for Capital Murder and Attempted Murder after detectives reviewed evidence and presented information to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office. WBMA also reported that Birmingham homicide detectives identified Keion McClure, Rico Pickett, and Cameron Scales as suspects, that warrants were obtained in December, and that all three men were in the Jefferson County Jail on no bond while the investigation continued.
Martavius Williams’s story began publicly as the disappearance of a teenage boy last seen in Westover on August 11, 2020, and later came to a devastating close with confirmation that he was deceased.
