Ethan Goolsby Missing Person Case

Ethan Goolsby, a 20-year-old sailor, went missing on December 10, 2020, while serving aboard the USS *Theodore Roosevelt* off the coast of Southern California. Goolsby, an Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice, was reported overboard after a ship-wide muster revealed him missing. A lookout had earlier spotted a person in the water, prompting an immediate search and rescue effort involving helicopters and boats. Despite a 55-hour search covering over 600 square nautical miles, the U.S. Navy was unable to locate him and eventually declared him deceased.

Goolsby, originally from San Antonio, Texas, had joined the Navy in 2019 and was stationed aboard the *Theodore Roosevelt* in July 2020. His disappearance remains under investigation, but his family and the Navy mourned the loss deeply. The Navy ended its search on December 12, 2020, after consulting with the family and determining that further rescue attempts were unlikely to succeed.
