Three-year-old Arden Pepion was last seen on April 22, 2021, near her home in the Joe Show East area, south of Browning, Montana, on the Blackfeet Reservation. She was reportedly playing in her yard with her two siblings while their mother was inside. When the mother went to check on the children, Arden was gone. The area where she went missing is described as rugged, with streams, ponds, and wooded areas, known to be inhabited by bears and mountain lions. At the time of her disappearance, Arden was wearing a purple jacket with a unicorn on it, a gray sweater, black leggings, and black boots.
An extensive search was launched immediately following her disappearance, involving a large number of volunteers and multiple law enforcement and search and rescue agencies. These included the Blackfeet Tribal Law Enforcement, the FBI, the Glacier County Sheriff's Office, and several other local and regional teams.
The search efforts utilized a variety of resources, including ground crews, canine units, helicopters, and drones, to cover the difficult terrain surrounding her home. Despite the intensive and widespread search, which continued for many days, no trace of Arden was found. The official, large-scale search was eventually scaled back, though community members and family have continued to organize searches and efforts to find her.
The investigation into Arden's disappearance has remained open. Law enforcement has followed up on numerous leads and continues to ask for the public's help with any information that could lead to her whereabouts. Arden is described as an American Indian/Alaska Native female with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time she went missing, she was approximately 3 feet tall and weighed around 31 pounds.
