In the early morning hours, a 39-year-old man named Manuel Gomez-Tellez prepared to leave his Newington, Connecticut, home for work. As a self-employed contractor for various moving and transportation companies, his job frequently required him to travel out of state, sometimes as far as Boston or New Jersey.
