Charles J. Pinger, aged 64, went missing on May 8, 1968, from Bergland, Michigan. He was known to live a solitary life in a shack in the woods, leading a reclusive existence. Pinger had not been seen for some time when the postmaster noticed that he hadn't picked up his social security checks for approximately two months prior to his disappearance.
