Fred Wilbur McDowell, a 54-year-old known traveler, was last heard from on June 3, 1987, when he sent his family a postcard from a motel in Des Moines, New Mexico. The postcard was the last communication anyone received from him, and since then, he has not been seen or heard from. McDowell, who often traveled for unknown reasons, left few clues about his disappearance, and no one has reported seeing him after that letter.
