John Tull, aged 60, went missing on August 23, 2014, while visiting Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point, California, with his family. Tull, an experienced surfer, entered the ocean with another family member near lifeguard tower SC2. His daughter, watching from the shore, saw him get caught in a large wave but noticed that he never resurfaced. Despite immediate search efforts, Tull was never located.
