Charles “Chuck” Taylor, 39, was last seen on surveillance video at approximately 5:01 a.m. on September 18, 2020, as he was leaving his residence at the Williamson Tower apartments in Williamson, West Virginia. Since he was last seen, there has been no activity on his bank account. Taylor, who is legally blind and has a mental health condition, did not have his required medication with him at the time of his disappearance.
Authorities initially stated that they did not suspect foul play in his disappearance, believing he left his home on his own accord.
In the time since he was last seen, search parties involving local law enforcement and community volunteers have been organized to find him. The West Virginia State Police are investigating his disappearance and have pursued various leads, including conducting searches in both West Virginia and Kentucky. The investigation has been complicated by the fact that some individuals considered key to the case are transient and difficult to locate. A person of interest, Rhonda Johnson, was identified by police, with her last known location being in Ohio.
Taylor's family believes he was murdered and has expressed frustration with the investigation. While authorities have identified persons of interest, the lack of a body has made it difficult to advance the case and make any arrests. At the time of his disappearance, Taylor was described as a Black male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
