In the summer of 2021, concern grew for a 37-year-old man named Andre Paul Gentles, who vanished from Tacoma, Washington. He was last seen on July 22, 2021, near a local homeless shelter in the city. The situation was made more troubling by the fact that his family reported they had not been in contact with him since 2018, adding a painful layer of prolonged worry to his sudden disappearance.
Public information regarding the specific details of what led to him going missing was limited, creating a challenging situation for those who cared for him.
The Tacoma Police Department handled the investigation into Andre's case. Authorities described him as a Black male, standing 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, a national database, with the hope of generating leads that might help locate him. The Washington State Patrol also made public appeals for any information that could assist in the search. Despite these efforts, few developments were publicly reported, and the lack of new information made the investigation difficult for law enforcement and left his loved ones without answers.
In a positive resolution to a difficult period of uncertainty, the investigating agency reported that Andre Gentles has been located and is alive. The specific details and exact date concerning his recovery have not been made public. The case, which began with a last known contact in July 2021, was marked by a significant lack of information and a heart-wrenching gap in communication with his family that preceded his formal disappearance. The anguish experienced by his family and community has been replaced with the relief that he has been found safely.Last Seen: Jul 22, 2021
