Jose Tobias López Mejía, a 27-year-old Salvadoran national, went missing on August 4, 2021, in Falfurrias, Texas, shortly after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. His last known contact with his family was on August 3, 2021, when he sent a text informing them that he and others were heading into the desert.
