Carlos Edward Tavarez, a 34-year-old man from Hastings, Florida, was last seen on July 31, 2022. His mother, Debbie Terrell, reported him missing after he failed to contact her for an extended period, which was unusual for him. Tavarez was last known to be in the company of a group of people on Faith Street in Flagler Estates, and there were indications he might have been using narcotics at the time.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office has been investigating his disappearance.
Detective Cheyenne Kroul mentioned that there is a possibility Tavarez may have overdosed, and his body might have been disposed of. A $5,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to his whereabouts.
Two years after his disappearance, the remains of Carlos Tavarez were found and identified. The discovery brought some closure to his family, although the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
