Stuart Lee Carter, a 50-year-old man from Julian, North Carolina, was last seen on September 20, 2022. A missing persons report was filed three days later on September 23, 2022. The case took a significant turn when, on April 28, 2024, a man was charged with Carter's murder. The Guilford County Sheriff's Office reported that 27-year-old Skyler Chance Kearns was charged with first-degree murder and concealment of death in connection to Carter's disappearance.
