Clarence Junior Hopper, 52, disappeared on February 7, 1980, from West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a crop duster by profession and had been working with fellow crop duster Charles Tim. The two men left West Palm Beach Airport in a twin-engine Beechcraft airplane, which they had purchased in September 1979. Their intended destination was over the Gulf of Mexico, but neither Hopper nor Tim were ever seen again, and it is believed that their plane likely crashed into the ocean.
Both men were living in South Haven, Michigan at the time, working for the Mueller Crop Dusting Service during the summer. Clarence also maintained a winter residence in Belle Glade, Florida. Despite the extensive search efforts, no trace of the men or the aircraft was ever found, and they are presumed to have perished in the crash.
