In the late evening hours of August 15, 2005, 24-year-old Sébastien Dupuis departed from his residence in Saint-Paulin, Quebec, for a bike ride with a friend. It was around 11:00 p.m. when they set out, heading towards Saint-Alexis-des-Monts along Route 349. This would be the last time Sébastien was seen in a familiar setting. As the night turned into the early morning of August 16, the two friends were in the vicinity of the Rivière des Écorces. At approximately 4:00 a.m., his friend saw him for the last time. After this point, Sébastien vanished without a trace.
Sébastien is described as a Caucasian male, standing 5'10" and weighing approximately 235 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. At the time he went missing, he had a two-day beard. He was last seen wearing a navy blue t-shirt with "Cancun" written on it, a black "Nike" kangaroo-style vest, and beige cargo pants.
He was riding a gray, Périgny brand mountain bike, which has also never been found. Concern for Sébastien's well-being was heightened by the fact that he required daily medication to prevent a state of confusion. His family grew increasingly worried as time passed with no word from him.
In the days that followed Sébastien's disappearance, extensive searches were conducted. Volunteers joined the efforts to locate the missing man, but their search yielded no clues. A helicopter was also used to survey the area, but this too proved fruitless. The Sûreté du Québec, Quebec's provincial police force, has kept the case open, and over the years, they have continued to investigate. Sébastien's family has provided DNA samples to aid in his identification should he be found. Despite the passage of time, his family has not given up hope of one day finding answers. The case of Sébastien Dupuis remains an unresolved mystery, a story of a young man who went for a bike ride and never came home, leaving his loved ones in a state of perpetual uncertainty. The disappearance has been the subject of ongoing public awareness efforts, including features on billboards, in hopes that someone might come forward with information that could finally bring closure to his family.Last Seen: Aug 16, 2005
