Summary based on 1 source
In the late morning of Saturday, August 25, 1979, 22-year-old Lynn Adel Oliver, a female resident of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, vanished under troubling circumstances. At approximately 11:40 a.m., she left her job at Quality Cleaners on Stellerton Road to walk home for her lunch break, a short distance away. She never arrived. On the day she disappeared, Lynn was described as being nervous and had expressed concerns for her physical safety. This sense of unease was so strong that she had previously given a coworker and friend a note with instructions to contact her mother immediately if she ever went missing. Lynn was a young mother to a two-year-old son.

Lynn's disappearance was out of character for the fun-loving woman who was deeply devoted to her young son. When she did not return to work after her lunch break, her coworker, following the instructions in the note, alerted Lynn's mother. A search was initiated, but there was no trace of Lynn. In the initial stages of the investigation, there was speculation that she might have left voluntarily, but as time passed with no contact, not even on significant dates like her birthday or her son's, it became evident that this was unlikely. Since she was last seen, there has been no activity on her bank account or her Social Insurance Number, further deepening the mystery of her whereabouts.

The investigation into Lynn Adel Oliver's disappearance has remained open for decades, becoming one of the area's most enduring cold cases. It is known that prior to her disappearance, Lynn had told her mother that she was being stalked and threatened by a man, and she was afraid of him. This individual, a convicted torturer, has been considered a person of interest in her case. Despite extensive inquiries conducted across the country over the years, no significant leads have emerged to resolve the case. The New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate, believing that there are people who possess information that could finally shed light on what happened to the young mother who vanished on that summer day. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for her family and the community, a haunting mystery of a young woman who walked home for lunch and was never seen again. The Government of the Province of Nova Scotia is offering a significant reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.
