Brenda Oconnor Missing Person Case

Brenda O'Connor, age 20, was last seen on April 19, 1985, in Wilseyville, California. She, her common-law husband Lonnie Bond Sr., their 1-year-old son Lonnie Jr., and their friend Scott Stapley, all went missing around the same time. Brenda lived next door to notorious serial killers Leonard Lake and Charles Ng, who abducted and held their victims captive at a secluded cabin. Brenda's disappearance, along with others, was part of the horrific crimes committed by Lake and Ng during the mid-1980s.

After Lake's arrest in June 1985, investigators discovered human remains and videotapes at the cabin that linked Lake and Ng to numerous murders. The remains of several victims, including Brenda O'Connor, were found scattered across the property. The videotapes revealed chilling footage of Lake and Ng tormenting their victims, including Brenda. This case was part of what investigators referred to as "Operation Miranda," named after a book that Lake idolized and based his twisted fantasies on. Brenda's tragic fate was confirmed when her remains were positively identified later that year.
