In the late spring of 1967, a day of fishing turned into a tragedy that would leave a family forever changed. On the morning of May 28th, 34-year-old John Pawloski was enjoying time by the water in the area of Pointe du Bois, Manitoba. He was accompanied by his common-law wife and a 9-year-old boy. The tranquil scene was shattered in an instant when John's fishing rod began to slip into the fast-moving water. As he lunged for it, he lost his footing and fell into the turbulent river.
