On May 28, 1967 at approximately 9:00 a.m. John Pawloski, his common-law wife and a young boy (9 years old) were fishing in the area of Pointe du Bois, Manitoba. John's fishing rod started to slip into the water and he ran to reach at it. He fell into the fast moving water. His wife attempted to rescue him, but she too slipped on the rocks and fell into the water. The young boy ran to get help and when he looked back he could no longer see the couple.
