Nicole Cuomo, 38, was last seen on September 22, 2007, during a scuba diving trip off the coast of Rockledge, Florida. An experienced diver and spearfishing enthusiast, Nicole was diving from a private boat about 15 miles southeast of Jupiter Inlet when she failed to resurface after a deep dive. Despite her extensive experience in diving, including underwater fishing, she went missing during what was supposed to be a routine dive.
Following her disappearance, a massive search operation was launched by the Coast Guard, involving both aerial and water searches. Friends and family, determined to continue the search after the Coast Guard suspended efforts, rallied volunteers and private planes to comb the area. Some searchers found potential leads, such as a yellow diving buoy spotted miles from her last known location, but no trace of Nicole was ultimately found.
At the time of her disappearance, Nicole worked as a psychologist at a special education school in Melbourne, Florida. Her family and friends have expressed hope, knowing her skills and knowledge in diving gave her a higher chance of survival, but as the search extended without results, the case transitioned to a presumed drowning.
