Sean MacIntyre was 13 years old at the time of a boating accident on July 25, 1980. The boat he was in started to take on water just after leaving Cockburn Island. The boat sank quickly in Lake Huron, North Channel, 2 kilometres Southwest of Bigsby Island. Occupants of the boat put on life jackets. Sean slipped out of his life jacket and is presumed drowned. His body has never been recovered.
