On May 10th 1969, Lorie Lewis, 7, was reported missing from the city of Squamish. She was last seen on the same day by her siblings of similar age, playing near a beach on the Cheekeye River, upstream of its confluence with the Cheakamus River. At the time, the water run off was swift, and Lorie is presumed drowned.
