On September 12, 1982, Harold Larcher and his girlfriend set out on Lake Winnipegosis in separate canoes with their supplies from the Overflowing River in Manitoba. After the river, they were in view of big waves on the lake. Their canoes began to fill with water from the same waves. His girlfriend's canoe overturned, but she could see that Harold was still in his canoe as she struggled to right her own.
