Mathieu Landry was reported missing on February 16, 1994, by a traveling companion, while on vacation in Malaysia. Mathieu was renting a cabin at Juara village on Tioman Island in Malaysia, when he went for a walk and never returned. Mathieu's passport, clothing, backpack and other personal effects where recovered from the resort where he was staying and sunglasses belonging to him were found on the beach.
