In the late summer of 1983, a sense of unease settled over Lower Manitou Lake in Ontario, following the disappearance of 64-year-old Nick Kostiuk. On August 23rd of that year, Mr. Kostiuk was observed getting into a boat and departing from a dock on the lake. A concerning detail of this last sighting was the fact that he was not wearing a life jacket, a particularly worrisome fact given that he was known to be unable to swim.
