In the late summer of 2004, the life of Robert David Harrington, a 47-year-old man, took a sudden and mysterious turn. The last confirmed communication anyone had with him was a phone call he made to his daughter on August 29, 2004, to wish her a happy birthday. A few days later, his son was in contact with him to make arrangements for his university tuition. His daughter had plans to meet with him in Toronto on September 4, but Harrington never appeared.
