On that night, Amber, who stood at 5 feet 5 inches with a slender build, long brown hair, and hazel eyes, was reportedly intoxicated and intended to take a cab home. Instead, she was witnessed getting into an older model red or burgundy truck, believed to be a mid-90s Chevrolet Silverado with an extended cab. She was wearing white shoes, blue or black jeans, and a white jacket or a white Adidas hoodie with gold stripes on the sleeves at the time of her disappearance. The circumstances surrounding Amber's disappearance have been the subject of a prolonged investigation. Initially, her family felt their concerns were not taken seriously by the Winnipeg Police Service, who suggested she might have run away or was out partying, a theory the family strongly contested as time went on. In 2014, investigators released a composite sketch of a person of interest, described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, with short reddish hair, hairy arms, and light-colored stubble, who may wear prescription glasses and a camouflage baseball hat. The investigation gained new momentum in 2016 when it was taken over by Project Devote, a joint task force of the Winnipeg Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that specializes in cases of missing and murdered exploited persons. In November 2017, Project Devote released more specific details about the truck Amber was last seen in, identifying it as a mid-90s burgundy Chevrolet Silverado with a "4x4" decal near the rear of the box and the outline of the word "Chevrolet" across the tailgate. Amber's disappearance has left a profound void in the lives of her loved ones, who remember her as a vibrant and sometimes feisty young woman with a love for laughter and socializing. Her family, including her sister and brother, have tirelessly advocated for answers and have expressed their heartbreak and frustration over the years.
