In the winter of 1978, a young woman named Mary Frances Gregory, aged 19, embarked on what was meant to be a vacation to Palo Alto, California. On February 15, she left her home in the small town of Parry Sound, Ontario, in the company of a male acquaintance. At the time of her departure, she was described as being 5'3' and weighing around 110 pounds, with straight, shoulder-length dark blonde to brown hair and hazel eyes.
