On November 24, 1997, Daniel Gaulton and some friends walked into the Park Hotel in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He had called in to take the day off from his job as a security guard at a local construction site. Daniel withdrew cash from an ATM at 9 p.m. and returned home at 11 p.m. He had a brief conversation with his roommate and left in his 1985 Chrysler LeBaron.
