In the winter of 2021, a mother, daughter, and friend named Amber Ellis vanished, leaving behind a profound sense of loss and a community searching for answers. At 32 years of age, Amber was last seen sometime in the middle to the end of February in Ohsweken, a community within the Six Nations of the Grand River territory in Ontario. Living in Hagersville at the time, she also had connections to the nearby cities of Brantford, Cambridge, Hamilton, and Norfolk County. Her mother, filled with a growing sense of unease after an uncharacteristic silence, officially reported her missing on March 8, 2021. Amber, a mother of two, was known to be in regular contact with her children, making her sudden lack of communication, including on social media, a significant cause for alarm for her family. She is described as being five feet, nine inches tall, with a thin build, long dark hair, and brown eyes. The investigation into Amber's disappearance is a multi-jurisdictional effort, involving the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Six Nations Police Service, and Brantford Police Service. From the outset, investigators have suspected that she was a victim of foul play. A significant development in the case came to light when police revealed that shortly before she was last seen, Amber might have been involved in a confrontation in the Eagle Place neighbourhood of Brantford. Authorities believe this incident may be directly linked to her disappearance and have urged anyone with information about it to come forward. Over the years, the investigation has included numerous interviews and extensive ground searches, including an evidence-based search of a property where she was reportedly last seen in June of 2023. Despite these efforts, no trace of Amber has been found. The years since Amber Ellis was last seen have been marked by her family's unwavering search for answers and a deep, unending grief. Her mother has spoken of the daily pain of her absence, a pain amplified by the presence of Amber's children who are constant reminders of the woman they have lost. The profound sentiment from her family is that she simply "disappeared off the face of the Earth." To encourage individuals to come forward with information, the Government of Ontario has offered a $50,000 reward for any tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance. The case remains an open and active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for her loved ones and the community. The central mystery of what happened to Amber Ellis in the final days of February 2021 continues to be a focus for law enforcement, who hold onto the belief that someone holds the key piece of information that can finally bring her home and provide her family with the closure they desperately seek.
