In the winter of 2021, a promising young man named Brock Wesley Curtis vanished from Niagara Falls, New York, leaving behind a community searching for answers. On January 12th, the 24-year-old was last seen at Niagara Falls State Park. Reports from that day indicated that he entered the water near Prospect Point and was not seen again. At the time of his disappearance, Brock was described as a White male, standing at 6'3" and weighing around 170 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was reportedly wearing a blue #34 Buffalo Bills jersey and pajama pants when he was last seen. Brock was a graduate of Clarence High School and Niagara University, a young man with a world of potential ahead of him. He had a passion for engaging with different cultures, which led him to study abroad in South Korea, where he also played baseball. His travels took him to five continents, with trips to West Africa and Seoul being among his most cherished experiences. Known as a talented athlete, he also had a creative side, enjoying writing and poetry. At the time he went missing, Brock was living with his parents and was actively seeking employment while also receiving therapy to address his mental health challenges. The investigation into Brock's disappearance acknowledged his struggles with mental illness, a battle he had been fighting for some time. His mother shared that his mental health issues began to surface and became more pronounced during his college years, leading to a diagnosis of bipolar one. In the wake of their profound loss, Brock's family has chosen to channel their grief into advocacy, working to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental illness and to support suicide prevention efforts. His mother has undertaken remarkable journeys to honor his memory, including a 485-mile pilgrimage in Spain and a 3,000-mile bicycle ride across the United States, all to spread a message of hope and to let others know they are not alone. While his body has never been recovered, it is presumed that Brock Wesley Curtis drowned in the turbulent waters of Niagara Falls.
