In the autumn of 2024, a family's life was irrevocably altered by the disappearance of 26-year-old Colten David Convey. He was last seen in Kitscoty, Alberta, on October 31, 2024, with the belief that he may have been traveling to Wetaskiwin, Alberta. At the time of his disappearance, Colten was described as being six feet two inches tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinctive tattoos adorned his body: his right forearm bore the words "My struggle today is my strength tomorrow," his right abdomen was inscribed with "And in time this too shall pass," and his left chest featured a leaf with mountains. Concern for his well-being grew when he failed to make contact with his loved ones, a behavior his mother described as out of character, stating he would always get back to her within a couple of days. As the days turned into weeks with no word from Colten, the investigation into his disappearance intensified. On November 29, 2024, the Kitscoty RCMP issued a public appeal for assistance in locating him. The case, however, took a more serious turn and was eventually handed over to the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, an indication that investigators suspected foul play was involved in his vanishing. In February 2025, a significant development occurred when a search warrant was executed on a rural property in Leduc County, resulting in the discovery of "potential remains." Despite this finding, authorities have confirmed that the remains have not been forensically identified as belonging to Colten Convey, and his case officially remains an open missing person investigation. The lack of definitive answers has left Colten's family in a state of agonizing uncertainty. His mother has publicly shared her heart-wrenching belief that her son's life was taken, a devastating conclusion she reached after being contacted by the homicide unit in December 2024. While the RCMP has not been able to share specific details of the ongoing investigation, the family has been grappling with the painful reality of their loss. The case of Colten David Convey is a somber reminder of the enduring pain experienced by families of the missing. It is a narrative of a young man who vanished, leaving behind a family searching for truth and closure in the face of a profoundly troubling and unresolved situation. The investigation continues, with both law enforcement and his loved ones holding out hope for answers that will one day bring an end to their painful limbo.
