In the quiet, early morning hours of June 17, 2020, 34-year-old Ashley Collins, a mother of five, vanished from a rural property near Drayton Valley, Alberta. She was last seen leaving a residence on foot on Range Road 83 between 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. At the time she went missing, Ashley, who also went by the name Ashley Fricke, was carrying garbage bags filled with a large quantity of her clothing, enough to fill a queen-sized closet. Her sister, Michelle Maisonneuve, noted that Ashley would have been dressed in jeans and brand-name clothing, as she always took pride in her appearance. Concern for her well-being was heightened by the fact that Ashley is diabetic and was said to be leading a high-risk lifestyle at the time of her disappearance. Described as a Caucasian woman, standing 5'4" tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds, Ashley had medium-length dark brunette hair and brown eyes. Her distinguishing features included a diamond nose piercing, a right eyebrow ring, a tattoo of a child's drawing on her left forearm, and another unknown tattoo on her right arm. In the days and weeks following her disappearance, her family grew increasingly worried. Her sister Michelle made a heartfelt public plea, saying, "Ash if you are seeing this, please come home baby sister, you don't have to stay away, we love you, and we need to know you are okay. Ash, please call home, everything will be okay if you just come home." The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Drayton Valley launched an investigation into her disappearance, expressing their concern for her safety. The investigation into Ashley's disappearance has remained open, though years have passed without any significant updates. There were initial thoughts that she may have traveled to Camrose or British Columbia, with some believing she could be in the Kelowna area, where she had ties. However, her family, particularly her sister, has expressed strong doubts that she would have voluntarily left her five children, to whom she was devoted. The mysterious circumstances of her leaving in the middle of the night on foot from a rural area, with all her belongings in garbage bags, have left her loved ones with many unanswered questions. The case of Ashley Collins is a troubling one, centering on a dedicated mother who seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving a family to grapple with her absence and the enduring pain of not knowing what happened to her.
