On September 26, 1970, John Claus and his friend were reported missing to the police after being late from a boat trip. A pilot later spotted a swamped boat on Cormorant Lake, Manitoba and notified the police. Despite patrols and searches, John was never found. His partner was later recovered and the cause of death was determined to be drowning. Foul play is not suspected in this matter.
