In the quiet community of Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan, the summer of 2012 was marked by the unsettling disappearance of a beloved 83-year-old resident. This discovery immediately prompted a search and an investigation by the Battleford RCMP. The location of her vehicle, so far from her home, raised numerous questions and deepened the fears of her family and the community. The search efforts that were launched were extensive, a testament to the urgency and seriousness of the situation. Investigators brought in a police canine team to the site where Bernice's car was found. The canine unit managed to track a scent trail from her vehicle that led towards the North Saskatchewan River, suggesting a possible direction she may have taken. This led to an expansion of the search to include comprehensive ground searches of the surrounding area and the deployment of underwater recovery teams to scour the depths of the river. Despite these exhaustive efforts, no trace of Bernice was found. More than a decade has passed, yet the questions surrounding her disappearance remain unanswered. Her case is still an active investigation with the Saskatchewan RCMP Historical Case Unit. The community of Rabbit Lake and her loved ones continue to hold out hope for answers, forever changed by the day an 83-year-old woman vanished, leaving behind only her car and a trail that ended at the river's edge. The overview of the case is that an elderly woman disappeared from her home community and her vehicle was located a considerable distance away later that same day.
