On a March evening in 1972, 68-year-old Isabelle Brooks was at her home in Markham, Ontario, a residence she shared with her husband, Aubrey, at the southwest corner of Highway 7 and the 10th Concession. According to her husband, Isabelle put on a black or maroon coat and a bandana-style scarf, telling him she was leaving and would be back in about one week. She then reportedly left their small home on foot on the night of March 4, 1972, and vanished. No one has reported seeing or hearing from Isabelle Brooks since that night. Isabelle was a woman with a petite build, standing at 4'11" and weighing around 115 pounds. She had grey hair, hazel eyes, and was noted to have a ruddy complexion and a mole on the top of her head. It is also known that she had some gold teeth and wore prescription glasses. In the years following her disappearance, the area surrounding her former home, which is now on what is called Reesor Road, has remained largely rural, with the land where the house once stood now overgrown. The investigation into her disappearance has continued over the decades, with authorities considering it a cold case. Due to the unusual circumstances of her leaving, investigators believe that Isabelle may have met with foul play. Her case remains open, and the York Regional Police have made efforts to find answers, including cross-referencing her dental records with unidentified human remains that have been discovered in the region, though no positive matches have been made to date.
