The following day, November 2, brought what is currently the last known sighting of Coalton. He briefly appeared at a home in Whitelaw, where he asked to use the telephone before promptly leaving. At the time he was thought to be wearing distinctive Carhartt brand brown overalls over black basketball shorts, along with a well-worn grey cotton hoodie. Since that brief interaction in Whitelaw, the trail has gone cold. The Fairview RCMP detachment took charge of the investigation, expressing concern for his well-being. His disappearance has left his family and friends in a painful state of limbo, holding out hope for any piece of information that might lead to his whereabouts. The case is a distressing puzzle of a man whose vehicle broke down, leading him on a journey on foot through rural Alberta.
