In the late summer of 2009, a 43-year-old mother of two named Kathryn Patricia Bordato vanished from London, Ontario. The exact date of her disappearance remains unclear, though investigators believe she was last seen sometime between July and mid-August of that year. On what was thought to be her last known day, she was seen in the vicinity of Cavendish Park, reportedly carrying a black duffle bag and a blue and black backpack. Kathryn, who often went by Kathy, was described as a Caucasian female, standing 5'4" and weighing around 140 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes. She had a distinctive tattoo of the Venus symbol on her left hand, between her thumb and index finger, and sometimes walked with a limp. The investigation into Kathryn's disappearance was hampered from the start by a significant delay. She was not officially reported missing until February 10, 2010, many months after her family and friends had last heard from her. This delay was complicated by the fact that Kathryn did not have a permanent address at the time. The last person believed to have seen her was her boyfriend, who told police he had dropped her off at the park. This individual, however, did not report her missing himself and instead asked her family members to file the report. Investigators found he provided limited cooperation and believed he was withholding crucial information regarding her whereabouts. Years after she vanished, Kathryn's case became linked to another missing person investigation in London, that of Shelley Desrochers, who disappeared in 2016. Police discovered that one man knew both women: Kathryn's former boyfriend, Ronald Kevin Fangrad. He was considered a person of interest in both disappearances, but he passed away in 2020, taking any secrets he may have held to his grave. Despite searches and ongoing police work, there has been no evidence to suggest Kathryn is still alive. The case remains an open investigation, a painful and unresolved mystery for her children and loved ones.
