In the late summer of 1994, a family disagreement would be the unfortunate catalyst for a long and sorrowful mystery in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. On September 14th of that year, 27-year-old Kenneth Gilbert Joseph Blais, known to his loved ones as Kenny, was involved in an argument with his mother at their Levesque Street home. Following the dispute, Kenneth left the residence, stating that he was heading to Ottawa to see his father. This was the last time he was ever seen by his family. His loved ones initially believed he had made his way to the Ottawa region as he had intended. However, as time passed with no word, it became devastatingly clear that Kenneth had never arrived at his father's home and his whereabouts were unknown. At the time of his disappearance, Kenneth was described as a Caucasian male, standing at approximately 5'7" and weighing around 130 to 138 pounds. He had a thin build, with shoulder-length, dark brown, curly hair and brown eyes. A distinguishing feature was a handmade tattoo of a cross on his left bicep. He also typically wore a beard and a mustache. When he left his home, it is believed he was wearing a black leather jacket, a t-shirt, and jeans. He was carrying a duffle bag, possibly a "Montreal Canadiens" hockey bag, but had no money with him when he set off on foot. The trip to Ottawa would have been a considerable distance, over 350 kilometers away, and there is no evidence to suggest he ever commenced this journey. Decades have passed since Kenneth Blais was last seen, and his case remains an open and unresolved missing person investigation. His disappearance is particularly notable as he was one of four men to go missing from the North Bay area during the summer of 1994, a fact that has led to public speculation, though no official connection between the cases has been confirmed. Over the years, there have been no significant developments in the search for Kenneth. Tragically, his mother passed away without ever knowing what became of her son. The argument that preceded his departure has become a haunting final memory for his family. The case of Kenneth Blais is a painful reminder of the enduring anguish that families of the missing face, living with unanswered questions and the faint, yet persistent, hope of one day finding a resolution.
