In the quiet, early hours of New Year's Day 2022, 23-year-old Emily Bailey was seen for the last time in Hamilton, Ontario. She was at a residence on Weir Street North, a home she had been sharing with her boyfriend. The exact circumstances of her departure remain unclear, but she was last seen sometime that morning. Described as a white female, standing between 5'3" and 5'4" with a slender build, Emily had distinctive shoulder-length dark hair with dyed-green highlights. She had two noticeable tattoos: an elephant on her left forearm and the Batman symbol on the outside of her right forearm. When she vanished, it is believed she was wearing a yellow Billabong-brand hoodie, a long black winter coat, and was carrying a light blue backpack. The days that followed her disappearance were filled with a growing sense of dread for her family and friends, as all attempts to contact her went unanswered. The alarm was officially raised on January 10, 2022, when Emily, a devoted mother to her two young daughters, failed to show up for a scheduled visit with one of them. This was profoundly out of character for her, prompting her loved ones to report her missing. As the Hamilton Police Service began their investigation, the details surrounding her last known moments started to paint a concerning picture. Her disappearance was considered suspicious, and by March 2022, the case was transferred to the Homicide Unit. Investigators have since stated their belief that Emily was a victim of foul play and was likely murdered, with her body subsequently disposed of. The years since Emily's disappearance have been marked by an intensive and ongoing investigation. Police have conducted numerous interviews and executed multiple search warrants in an effort to uncover the truth and bring closure to her grieving family. Despite these efforts, her remains have not been found. Investigators have expressed their firm belief that there are people in the community who hold crucial information about what happened to Emily and the location of her remains, but have been hesitant to come forward. In an attempt to encourage individuals to share what they know, a $20,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the recovery of her body and the conviction of those responsible for her death. In May of 2026, a significant search was conducted at a residence on Stinson Street, where authorities confirmed that evidence connected to the case was collected, keeping a flicker of hope alive that answers may yet be found for Emily's loved ones. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to assess all evidence, piecing together the final moments of Emily Bailey's life.
