In the winter of 2021, concern grew for 57-year-old Steve William Chandler, a resident of Yakima, Washington, who had not been seen since January 8th of that year. Described as a white male, 5'9" and weighing 170 pounds, with graying hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive large scar across his forehead, his absence was felt by those who knew him. He was also known to have a long beard and no natural teeth. His family grew increasingly worried as time passed with no word from him, a silence that was out of character and stretched into an agonizing period of uncertainty.

The circumstances leading up to his disappearance were pieced together from his last known activities and financial records. Family members reported that they had not had any contact with Steve since sometime between January and March of 2020, and an examination of his bank account showed his last transaction was in November 2019. These purchases were unusually made in North Dakota before his card was used again in Yakima later that same month. This unusual pattern, coupled with his lack of communication, raised alarms. Steve was known to be driving a blue, mid-90s to early 2000s model Buick LeSabre with the Washington license plate AYR7054. A notable feature of the car was a missing driver's side rear window. The last confirmed sightings of him by family were a visit to Montana in April 2020 and his attendance at a wedding in Yakima in July 2020. After these events, his whereabouts became unknown.

The official report of his disappearance was filed with the Yakima Police Department on January 8, 2021, under case number 21Y000911, marking the start of a formal investigation into his whereabouts. The case was also entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System as #MP160765. Despite these efforts, and the passage of time, the investigation has yet to yield definitive answers. The lack of any new information has left his loved ones in a state of limbo, holding onto hope while grappling with the painful reality of his continued absence. The overview of this case reveals a man who seemingly vanished, with his last known movements and financial activities providing few clues as to what may have happened to him after he was last seen by his family in the summer of 2020.
