In the early summer of 1994, 35-year-old Mark Winston Hill was looking forward to a camping trip in a remote part of Nevada County, California. He was last known to be driving to his chosen campsite near the small town of Washington on June 13, 1994. This would be the last time anyone had confirmed contact with him. Concern grew when Mark did not return or make contact with anyone. Approximately two weeks after his last known contact, his vehicle was discovered abandoned at the campsite he was heading to.

The discovery of Mark's vehicle at the unattended campsite launched an official investigation into his whereabouts. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office opened a case on June 27, 1994, treating his disappearance as a missing person case. At the time he went missing, Mark was described as a Caucasian male, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing between 200 and 225 pounds. He had brown hair and brown eyes. Despite the investigation, details about the circumstances leading to his disappearance and the specific items he may have had with him remain scarce in publicly available information.

Years have passed since Mark Winston Hill was last seen, and his case has grown cold, leaving his family and friends without answers. The lack of any significant leads or new evidence has left the investigation at a standstill. His case serves as a somber reminder of the many individuals who vanish without a trace, leaving behind a void of uncertainty for their loved ones. The overview of this case is one of a man who seemingly vanished from a remote campsite, with only his vehicle left behind as a clue to his last known location.
