However, McKinnon never returned, and his family became concerned. His stepson reported him missing on June 20, 2022. At the time of his disappearance, McKinnon was wearing a gray collared security guard shirt, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
McKinnon had previously suffered a traumatic head injury in 2008, which left him prone to forgetfulness, raising concerns about his well-being. Due to these circumstances, a Purple Alert was issued, designed to help locate missing adults with cognitive impairments.
