On the evening of May 6, 1979, 38-year-old Donamae Bourgeois Bayerl was last seen at her residence on Fennimore Lane in Muskego, Wisconsin. Her husband, John H. Bayerl, told authorities that they had an argument, and she left in the family car to cool down. He claimed that he went to bed and was later awakened by the sound of the car returning and someone moving around inside the house, leading him to believe Donamae had come home.
