Brittany Anne Ford, 28, and her infant son, Deklon, have been missing since May 2015, a case that spans multiple states and is shrouded in perplexing circumstances. The events leading to their disappearance began in mid-April 2015 in Georgia, where Brittany was living with Deklon's father. Following a call to the police in which she alleged the baby's father was abusing him, authorities advised her to spend the night elsewhere.
Instead of a local hotel, Brittany embarked on a journey to her mother's home in Columbus, Ohio, expressing fears that the government was after her.
Upon arriving in Ohio, Brittany's behavior grew increasingly erratic. She accused her stepfather of abusing her younger sister, which prompted her concerned family to seek professional help. She was briefly admitted to the psychiatric ward of a local hospital. After her release on April 19, she went to stay with her brother. A few days later, she and Deklon disappeared, leaving a note saying she was going to get food. Her family officially reported them missing on May 7, 2015.
In the days that followed, there were brief signs of Brittany's whereabouts. On May 14, a police officer in Indiana assisted her with a flat tire. Two days later, on May 16, she contacted her brother from Iowa, requesting $10,000. This was the last known contact anyone had with her. The following day, May 17, 2015, her white 2007 Nissan Versa, with Georgia license plate number BUG 16859, was found abandoned on the side of a highway between Billings and Sheridan, near Hardin, Montana.
The discovery of the car only deepened the mystery. All of Brittany's personal belongings, including her medication and Deklon's car seat, were found inside the vehicle. The car was reportedly operable and had gas in the tank. There was no sign of Brittany or her son. The Columbus, Ohio police are investigating their disappearance, which remains unsolved.
