On May 10, 1967, Edwin Craig Dowell, a 14-year-old male from Hannibal, Missouri, vanished from the south side of the city in the company of two younger boys, brothers Joel "Joey" Hoag, 13, and William "Billy" Hoag, 11. Edwin was known by his middle name, Craig, and contemporary missing-person summaries note that most accounts refer to him that way. The three boys were last seen between about 4:20 and 5:00 p.m., carrying shovels and a flashlight and saying they were going to explore Murphy's Cave ...
