On the evening of January 20, 2006, 26-year-old Risha Aleena Lewis left her residence in the 400 block of Moorehouse Drive in New Castle, Delaware, for a weekend visit with a friend in Elkton, Maryland. It was a trip she frequently made, traveling to the 200 block of west Pulaski Highway to see her friend. In the early morning hours of January 21, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Risha made a phone call home to let them know she was on her way back.
That phone call was the last time her loved ones would ever hear from her. Risha, a mother of two, never arrived home and has not been seen or heard from since.
The days turned into weeks, and then months, with no sign of Risha. A significant break in the case came nearly nine months after her disappearance, on October 17, 2006, when her vehicle, a white 1997 Ford Crown Victoria, was discovered abandoned in Newark, Delaware. Despite the recovery of her car, no clues were found that could shed light on her whereabouts. Concern for her well-being was high, particularly as she was known to be HIV-positive and had not been in contact with her two young children, which was completely out of character for her. Her cell phone, though it remained activated, showed no activity.
Risha is described as a Black female, standing 5'3" tall and weighing around 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She has several distinct physical characteristics, including pierced ears and a pierced right eyebrow. She also has a number of tattoos, including red flames with the name "Kev" on one upper arm, the name "Risha" on her wrist, "Jamie" on her calf, a butterfly between her breasts, and barbed wire or vines on the small of her back. When she was last seen, she was wearing a gold rope bracelet and a gold rope necklace with a pendant that read "Mommy and Me". The circumstances surrounding Risha's disappearance remain unclear, and her case is being investigated by the New Castle County Police Department as that of an endangered missing person. Around the time she was reported missing, it was noted that the Cecil County Sheriff's Department had initiated a homicide investigation based on information they received about a woman who may have been killed in the Elkton area.
