It was then that he learned his Mazda had been discovered abandoned earlier that day, at approximately 11:00 a.m., in a private driveway of a mobile home park in southeast Lakin. Investigators found Stefanie's jacket and her wallet, which contained $500, on the front seat of the vehicle, suggesting that robbery was not a motive. The car's wheel wells were coated in mud and snow, indicating it had been driven for a significant distance before being left in the driveway. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified man dressed in black walking away from the car, and authorities do not believe Stefanie had any connection to the mobile home park where it was found.
The investigation into Stefanie's disappearance was extensive, but it yielded no definitive answers.
